Read the complete prefix first
Account for StatTrak in the actual listing name rather than guessing from a small image. Compact cards may truncate the beginning of a title; open the details and find the full record. Then match model, finish and exterior. Comparing ordinary and StatTrak versions is reasonable for choosing an appearance, but they are different offer groups. Their combined average cannot describe either individual group and may create a misleading impression of a bargain.
Separate appearance from listing comparison
When deciding whether you like a variant's appearance, inspect individual playing views. When comparing offers for an already chosen variant, keep the prefix constant. Do not allow price sorting to switch the item type silently. Review any visible additional details in the normal weapon position. Record applied stickers and custom names separately so that their differences are not attributed to the prefix itself. Keep those observations outside the basic identity field.
A hidden difference in search results
In a hypothetical shortlist, two cards show one finish. The first displays the complete title while the second truncates it after the weapon name, and the first appears more expensive. Expand both records before comparing. If the second lacks StatTrak, it is not a cheaper specimen of the same variant. If the prefixes match, proceed to exterior and inspection. This sequence catches the error before any exact amount is discussed.
Use a variant checklist
| Check | What should match |
|---|---|
| Prefix | StatTrak or ordinary |
| Weapon | Exact model |
| Finish | Complete design name |
| Exterior | Chosen category |
| Individual details | Evaluated separately |
Do not transfer status from generic artwork to a listing lacking complete details. Use the finder for design discovery, then confirm the variant in the card. See comparable listing checks when a price collection mixes variants. Keep uncertain entries out of a claimed like-for-like comparison.
