What happened
Display names can change, match another account, or be copied. Recipient ownership should therefore concern the account authenticated on the website, not the nickname displayed on a card. A rename and a switch to another account are different events. If validation reports a mismatch, first determine which event occurred before modifying the recipient link or assuming the site lost your items.
What to check
Open the Steam profile from the currently authenticated browser session. Obtain its own trade address from that account’s settings. Confirm that the website is signed into the intended Steam account as well. If you have multiple accounts, compare contexts on each device privately. Do not manually alter numeric identifiers or use a random converter that asks for your password, authenticator approval, or browser cookie.
Worked example
For example, you renamed your account and kept the same login. A familiar new name does not necessarily explain an ownership error. In a second scenario, another browser logged into a different account with that same name. The two screenshots look similar, but the recipient ownership differs. Trace where the address came from and which session saved it; names alone cannot reconcile the records.
Result and next step
Completion means the authenticated account and saved recipient share the correct owner, followed by an independent live check. Report whether the issue followed a rename, account switch, or device change and include the public error. Keep session information private. Read Steam’s account security guidance and CASECS2 account workflow. Ownership acceptance does not itself prove availability of a particular skin, successful delivery, or permission to bypass a paused withdrawal feature.
