Tradable versus marketable: read the exact Steam item restriction

A skin’s eligibility for trading is not the same question as its eligibility for the Steam Community Market.

What happened

A skin’s eligibility for trading is not the same question as its eligibility for the Steam Community Market. A visible card only proves that the interface displays a record. Check the restriction attached to the exact item and the exact action you intend. Avoid merging trading, market listing, website selling, and site-to-Steam delivery into one vague statement that the skin is blocked.

What to check

Open the exact Steam inventory item, paying attention to full name, wear, and special variant. Read the trade-related and market-related messages separately, including any date shown. Then name the operation you want to perform. If your skin exists only in CASECS2 inventory, first distinguish that on-site record from an item already present in Steam. The two inventories do not establish identical ownership or delivery state.

Worked example

For example, you can view a weapon card but cannot select it for one action. A screenshot of the artwork does not explain why. The item’s restriction text and the operation name are better evidence. Another variant with the same artwork may have a different record, so copying a date from a nearby item can send the diagnosis in the wrong direction.

Result and next step

A useful answer states which item, which action, and which displayed restriction are involved. Send those details with a timestamp and hide unrelated balance or personal information. Do not assume a deadline absent from the current item message. Refer to Steam trading information and CASECS2 service stages. A site sale button, a market restriction, and a withdrawal pause can have different causes and need separate explanations.
